Our Mission

We are a volunteer-based community service designed to prepare and deliver meals to residents of Rocky River and Lakewood who find it difficult to purchase or prepare food. We have been proudly serving the community since 1976. This organization makes no distinction among its recipients or volunteers in terms of age, race, sex, and religion. We are a 501(c)(3) organization, relying on private donations, with no government subsidies.

About Us

Rocky River Lakewood Meals on Wheels, a division of Westshore Meals on Wheels, prepares and delivers two freshly made meals per day, Monday through Friday, to our clients in Rocky River and Lakewood. Our service is available to anyone who has difficulty purchasing food and/or preparing nutritious meals.

Our meals are prepared by volunteers fresh daily in our kitchen, using high-quality ingredients such as homemade baked goods and soups, specialty breads and pastries, and fresh local produce from community gardens. Friendly, dedicated volunteers deliver meals to recipients’ doors between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm daily.

The service we provide is often the determining factor that allows people to stay in their homes rather than live in a temporary or permanent institutional setting. Our service can also mean the difference between a nutritious diet and the malnutrition often experienced by those who live alone and/or cope with disability and frailty.

Although our main focus is to deliver nutritious meals, our service offers other benefits, as well. For some of our clients, contact with a delivery volunteer may be the only personal interaction they have all day — and a very welcome one. In addition, those who deliver our meals will note if a recipient does not answer the door as usual, in which case the client’s contact person can be alerted to a possible problem needing intervention.

We are deeply grateful for the ongoing contributions and support of the following organizations:

Community West Foundation
Rocky River Coterie Club
Einstein Bagels, Rocky River
Rotary Club of Lakewood and Rocky River
Good Soil Lutheran Ministries
Magnificat High School
Sarita, a restaurant
Rocky River Community Garden
Whole Foods, Rocky River
Elmwood Bakery

Visit our donation page to help sustain our organization, update our equipment and maintain the high standard of our home-delivered meals.
